WOW! GO COYOTES!
Our high school robotics team is having a great season. We had many great accomplishments this year: First time being an alliance captain, highest ranking in team history (74 out of 476 teams in Michigan), holding a top ten rank with the top teams in Michigan for most of the State Championship, and finally a late invitation to represent Michigan at the World Championships in Houston, Texas this week. This great season continues for our students. They were pretty bummed yesterday when we thought it was done. I have seen this team grow and come together and for me that is truly the success in our season. It is true that we build a robot to go compete, but FIRST robotics is truly more than just robots. These students take part in interviews, make presentations, develop strategies, and problem solve on the fly. The skills they have gained and the personal growth you witness is the reason the mentors and I put in the hours we do with these students. Just to put all this into perspective, our little, rural town is one of 64 teams going to represent Michigan. When we compete, there are no divisions or classes like other sports. So we are competing against schools like Notre Dame Preparatory, Clarkston, Grandville, Hartland, and other big schools. I think that is the part to be most proud - even little ol' Reed City can be among the best in the World.
If you would like to help support this endeavor, we could use help in the form of gas cards, food cards (restaurants), and/or good old cash. These donations can be dropped off to the high school office Monday, as we are leaving Tuesday morning in order to arrive in Houston on Wednesday.
Thank you all for your community support.

Great season Cyber Coyotes!
From Coach Brad Smith:
What can I say but "I'm so proud of our group of kids on the Cyber Coyotes. We started the season with a bunch of students that had never been to an in-person competition and ended our session with the best finish we have ever had. Some accomplishments include: being an alliance captain, playing most of the Michigan State Championship ranked in the top ten, playing with the alliance that scored the highest unpenalized score in the world, being picked to participate on an alliance at the State Championship, and watching our kids grow from a bunch of newbies to seasoned veterans with big plans for next season. I love fostering that excitement in these kids and really expect to see great things in our future. We unfortunately fell short of qualifying for World's, but still the highest ranking in our history. Can't wait for next year.

Cyber Coyotes Updates!
End of day 1 and we are in 6th place out of the 40 on our field. Hopefully tomorrow goes as well. — at Saginaw Valley State University.
Day 2 - What a day. We worked our way as high as 3rd place. Then a few tough losses at the end of the day due to alliance members mechanical failures and we ended up 17th. We were picked as the second pick on the #8 alliance. First time on an Alliance at the State Championship. Automation Nation, Knight Vision, & the Cyber Coyotes take on Stryke Force, Frog Force, and the RoboRaptors tomorrow morning at 9:30 tomorrow morning (April 16, 2022).
